Nick H. Gabriel, D.O., FACOS, FACS

One of the first surgeons in the country to perform lap band surgery, Dr. Gabriel graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, trained in general surgery at the Weil College Cornell University in Brooklyn before completing a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at Yale University School of Medicine. He then joined the Yale faculty where he taught extensively and authored several publications.

Dr. Gabriel served as director of minimally invasive surgery and bariatrics at various hospitals in New York and performs all weight loss procedures including lap band, gastric plication, lap band with plication, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and revisions. He also performs minimally invasive procedures and robotic surgery for gallbladder disease, hernia, appendix, gastroesophageal reflux disease, disorders of the stomach including tumors, ulcers and gastroparesis, small bowel and colon disorders, disease of the spleen, pancreas and kidneys.

A Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgery and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Gabriel has appeared on the Discovery Health Channel, CNN “Anderson Cooper 360”, ABC Eyewitness News and has been featured in Newsweek, as well as other newspapers and magazines for “first of its kind” laparoscopic procedures in various institutions.

When he’s not in the office, performing procedures or teaching surgeons both nationally and internationally, he enjoys all types of motor sports and video games. He remains physically fit by cycling and dancing.
